‘Brother Croaky’
Show / interaction/ workshop Programme
Nursery / KS1 4 - 7 yrs
Workshop (1 class unit) : 45 mins – 2 hours
The puppetry and storytelling of the ‘Brother Croaky’ performance naturally spills over into child puppet play and group music-making – as a continuum – as very young children are free to discover their own play-within-the-play. They explore animal mimes and movement rhythms, learn clapping games and counting songs and have an opportunity of playing with interactive puppets. Teachers can harness the benefits of the show/ play / workshop combination and use the visit to stimulate further creative work with the children.
We can set up in situ in the more intimate setting of the classroom, with one class unit for a whole day. Alternatively, we can carry out a ‘Brother Croaky’ workshop with a selected, smaller group following on from a main hall performance for larger numbers.
Kaleidoscopes
Interactive Performance / follow-on workshop
KS2 - 7 - 11's
Taking a mezmerising journey through a variety of storylands, children are invited to join in a highly theatrical game in which participants are invited to bring back the most magical story.
In a kaleidoscopic way, the audience is led effortlessly from one fantastical storyworld to another. Together we journey through an array of images and patterns, discovering vivid atmospheres and sounds along the way. Dancers, masks, puppets and objects playfully arrange and re-arrange to transform to evocative settings into which fragments of literature, children's stories and poems are woven.
60 minute performance

1 - 2 hour follow-on workshop in working visually with stories using storytelling games, dance and puppetry to inspire story making
This performance and workshop programme was commissioned for STEP festival in July 06 (Southwark Theatres' Education Partnership)
Practical Training Sessions for FS/ KS1 and KS2 Teachers, Nursery Nurses, Play Workers and Parents
Imaginative and role play: playing with puppets and props; enlivening stories; setting up environments for fantasy play.
We can pass on new ideas and arts skills, especially with the use of
puppetry to enrich the children’s creative development. We aim
to develop adult self-esteem and confidence in their own creativity,
and offer approaches to support children with their make-believe and
imaginative play.
